The Weald (9 Hole Par 35 Course)
Want a great course to play on? Always in great condition? Plenty of challenges, yet can always find your ball? Then this is the course for you!
Top professionals play here because it's so good.
A great course with some classic holes. You'll want to play it again and again - always the sign of a good course. There is a good balance of holes, some long, some short, but testing all parts of your game and
making you think.
As a taster, here are a couple of hole descriptions, visuals and some of the challenges:-
A great Par 3! Go for the green and be rewarded, but go left and it's damp feet!
A thinking golfers par 5 from tee to green. Don't go too long with the drive or you're in the ditch, and don't get stuck behind the tree. Place your second and you are within distance of the well protected, two level, green. But don't forget, as if you could, there is a lake to the right to catch any wayward shot.
This has to be one of the toughest Par 4's in Essex. Into the prevailing wind and it plays like a Par 5. Watch out for the not so little fairway bunkers on the left and the grass bunker to the right of the green. A monster!
The Valley (9 Hole Par 3 Course)
This 9 Hole par 3 course is without question one of the best designed and maintained not only in the county but in our opinion in the whole country.
Lakes, bunkers, streams and mature trees provide an interesting and fun layout. It is a great place to start to learn the game, but also a challenge to the experienced golfer - can you get round in par?
As a taster, here are a couple of hole descriptions and visuals:-
It's only 109 yards, but beware, the bunkers short right and to the rear of the green are waiting for the stray shot!
Downhill and 150 yards, but it's surprising how many come up short in the valley on the approach to the green, or get caught in the bunker left. Beware, the green slopes severely so putting isn't that easy.
Seen Augusta and the bunkers there? Huge expansesof white sand just like on this hole too. It's all you've got to avoid really and a simple little par 3 for some!
Finishing holes should always be memorable. You'll remember this one, we guarantee it. If you are not up for the challenge, you can always play round the water. Are you up for it?
